Great Imperfect Mums Foundation began with a vision to support mothers in their journey of raising wholesome children while embracing their unique strengths.

About great imperfect mums Foundation (GIM)

The Great Imperfect Mums Foundation is a nurturing support network for mothers, dedicated to building connections, confidence, and resilience through a safe and empowering community. Founded and led by Miriam Mwuese Salihu-Dogo, a Nigerian educator and activist, the foundation fosters acceptance, mental wellness, and collective growth among mothers navigating the challenges of parenting.

Headquartered at Suite A23B, Platinum Mega Mall in Mabushi, Abuja, the foundation offers a sanctuary where mothers can share experiences, seek guidance, and access practical resources tailored to uplift them on their journey through motherhood.

Vision of Miriam Mwuese Salihu-Dogo

At the heart of GIM Foundation’s vision is the belief that mothers don’t have to be perfect to make powerful strides in their families and communities. This philosophy—embodied in the name “Great Imperfect Mums”—celebrates authenticity and resilience, emphasizing that maternal imperfection doesn’t hinder but rather enriches the pathways to positive change.

The foundation’s mission is expressed through impactful initiatives, including:

  • Adopt a Mum Project — empowers single mothers by providing startup capital to nurture their journey toward financial independence and stability.
  • Orphanage Visits — extends maternal care and emotional support to children residing in orphanages, bridging gaps of belonging and love.
  • School Fees Project — alleviates financial barriers by covering school fees for underprivileged children within the community, ensuring access to education.
  • GIM Awards for Graduating Students — recognizes and honors outstanding students from public schools through two awards:
    • James Akuse Unde Award for academic excellence, in memory of the founder’s late father.
    • Susan Torkuma Unde Award for exemplary behavior, honoring the memory of the founder’s late mum.

These programs illustrate how the foundation translates its vision into meaningful support—uplifting women and children through education, emotional nurturing, and community recognition.
